Renovated Brownstone

This month Lonny Magazine features this gorgeous brownstone completely renovated by designer Katie Martinez. Very chic yet comfortable for a family this home strikes the right balance with a touch of modern and vintage. Loving the lamps in the kitchen with the dark island and white cabinetry....and of course the gorgeous backsplash and counter...one of my personal favourites. There are many more pictures on the Lonny website so pop over to take a look.

Lonny Magazine Re-launch

It has been since December that Lonny Magazine stopped publishing their on-line magazine and I thought that was the last we were going to see of it. I was receiving their emails and went often to the site but new editions of the magazine never came out.....but to my delight this month they re-launched an updated magazine and website. I saw mixed feedback about the site but I have to say I like it. I found it is easy to navigate and the content is interesting and the homes gorgeous. Of course for me Michelle Adams, the former editor now at Domino, brought so much style to the pages of Lonny, but I am happy that the magazine is back and that it is still inspiring me with new ideas in decorating and design.

Check out this wonderful home of designer Susan Greenleaf in this months issue. Welcome back Lonny!

Hamptons Cottage

This is such a fresh summer cottage in the Hamptons, very light, bright and relaxed. I love the wood plank walls and the rough hewn beams. Great lighting throughout and big windows keep the indoors bright and allow for a wonderful view of the outdoors. Furnishings are modern and simple mixed with cheery textiles and pops of bright colours....and what about that gorgeous pool! Of course you need that at your summer place!

I am working on a video on how to style your coffee table and dressers and I think this one in the living room is well done! What do you think?

Domino Magazine is Back!!

Yes that is right! Domino, my all time favourite decorating magazine (I have every back issue) is being re-launched. It was shut down four years ago by the publisher Condé Nast but fans of Domino have kept the magazine alive through Pinterest, posting old features and photos from the magazine. The editor in chief will be none other than Michelle Williams, who worked at Domino before it closed and went on to become founding editor of the on-line magazine Lonny. Back at Domino now, she is bringing fresh ideas to the new on-line presence and to the print issues out on newsstands next week. On-line you can view and read the article, you can view just the photos of the article and you can shop the items from the article! Such a great way to find the items you love from the magazine. Wishing good luck to the new Domino team!!

Well Edited Home

This home, owned by magazine editor, author and fashion designer Laurann Claridge, is simply elegant. Loads of texture and shine, it feels like such a fantastic mix of antique and modern, traditional and fashionable...Loving all the white furniture of course and the funky little surprises throughout the space...ahhhh,  a sheep in the library perhaps? Great rug in living room and such a cute headboard made from a four paneled screen in the bedroom. All of this is from the Lonny Magazine archives. Take a look at some more homes from Lonny here and here...

Beach House- Lonny Magazine

I was looking at some back issues of Lonny Magazine and came across this fantastic beach house in Malibu. First of all, I love California! Yes I would go to LA anytime. I have always had great trips there for work and for fun. Second, to live in Malibu on the water would be rather nice don't you think....? This beach house of designer Tobi Tobin really appeals to me not only because it is all white but it is such a great mix of old and new items that make this home very personal. Check out these photos and the video as well..

Lonny- Soho Loft

This gorgeous loft in Soho was designed by Jarlath Mellett a former clothing designer. Mellet says he approached the design of this loft from a fashion standpoint paying close attention to fabrics and even the stitching details. Using a mix of vintage and modern pieces and mixing wonderful textures make this space feel like it was put together over many years. Keeping to neutral tones the designer was going for an earthy and romantic feel and I think he achieved it!

Inspiration in White - Lonny Magazine

I used to love the magazine Domino and was so sad when they stopped publishing a few years back. I even wrote to the publisher to express my dismay (which is not something I would normally do) but I could not understand how they could possibly close production! When Lonny the on-line magazine was started by one of their editors (Michelle Adams) I was one of their first followers as it really has a similar feeling to Domino. I am always super inspired by their ideas and the interviews and of course the beautiful interiors. I have picked a few photos from various issues to share with you for the Inspiration in White this week!

Enjoy!
