Small Space Style

This  tiny space is soooo cute and really perfectly decorated for the size. They have used some small size pieces like the couch and coffee table mixed with some oversize pieces for impact...like the large light in the living room. I like the way they have used the dresser at the end of the bed, almost like a footboard...a great way to add a dresser when there is no space.

Have a great weekend!

The 5 Best White Sofas!

About 6 years ago I bought a Montauk sofa and chair slipcovered in white heavy cotton. I loved them then and I still love them now. Before that I had Ikeas white slipcovered sofas but I was ready to invest in something better and more durable and I am so glad I did. The quality is fantastic and if I get tired of the look I can always redo the slipcovers.

If I were to replace my sofas today I would probably buy the Dream sofa from ABC Carpet and Home. They are amazingly comfortable and have a slightly more modern look to them....less shabby chic than the Montauk. My other favourite is the Ghost sofa designed by Paola Navone. Stunning look but less comfortable than the Dream sofa from ABC Carpet.

Take a look at my picks for the 5 best white sofas and tell me your favourite!

Inspirational Converted Loft Space

This incredible former warehouse in Amsterdam is the home of a childrens wear designer (Gray Label) and an architect and interior designer (Flow). I have seen one or two of these pictures floating around on Pinterest but today was the first time I saw the whole loft and wow what a great space. The loft is built around a wonderful open courtyard that lets light into all of the rooms. The brick wall, the industrial feel and the natural materials used in this home all work so well together. This is really one of my favourite homes I have seen in a while....the kitchen is really perfect and with that amazing chandelier.... Very inspirational.

Vintage Home in Australia

This is an amazing home in Queensland with gorgeous upcycled vintage pieces. Many of the favourite finds of these homeowners came from auctions and were then repainted, reupholstered or resurfaced. Pretty turquoise shutters with a rattan basket and sisal carpets creating wonderful texture in the living room.....of course the blue and white ginger jars are perfect as well.  I also love the green on the base of the kitchen table and the pretty map in the bedroom....

Pins of the Week: Tufting

I love the look of tufting on furniture even before it was back as a trend. I have always loved antiques and vintage furnishings and some of the old pieces in my childhood home were tufted. I have redone several pieces with tufting from the 50's and made it modern with heavy cotton fabrics or rich velvet. I don't see the current wave of this look going away too soon as some of the pictures below are from recent exciting projects. It is really a classic look that will stand the test of time.

Industrial Chic

Love this Industrial Chic home of a designer couple from Dallas. Rue Magazine brings us on a tour of this amazing home that has even a bit of Glam thrown in to take off the harder edge of the industrial look. The bedroom is so good the gold accents against the white...so good! Touches of black throughout to ground the space mix with wood and concrete. Super gallery wall with fun accessories that keep it new and interesting...

Have a good weekend!

Bright Beach House

Such a pretty beach house with wonderful neutrals and brights from Coastal Living. Beachy feeling with a mix of wonderful fabrics on the headboard in the bedroom, stripes in the living room and dining room and super cute fabric in yellow on the chairs in the breakfast nook...very adventurous. All natural sisal carpets throughout and natural wood on the ceiling are the perfect compliment to the colours in the house. Of course what a view from the the sun room and what a view of the house .....talk about curb appeal!

Best Beach House Porches

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

So what does it take to make the best Beach House porch? Well I would say you need to have 5 things....

First I would say you need the best view! Why be near the water and not see it right. Nothing better than looking from your porch out onto the ocean or lake...so peaceful!

Second you need a great place to crash...cozy seating and lots of cushions for me. I love the idea of having a big cushy couch and maybe a porch swing or a rocker as well..so relaxing.

Third has to be a good spot for dining. Someplace that you can add nice lighting and enough room for friends and family to sit with you.

Four would be a good spot to sunbathe...just to lie out on a long chair and catch a few rays.

Lastly I would want part of the porch to be covered. A nice spot to get out of the sun but still take in that amazing view.

What would you need your dream beach house porch to have?
