Inspiration in White: Entertaining

Yesterday I was lucky enough to be at a wedding in the countryside in Georgeville, Quebec. I was not there as a guest but as the assistant to the wedding photographer who just happened to be my daughter Chloé. I have been to a fair number of weddings but I have to say this was one of the most fun, out of the box weddings I have ever been to. Everything was charming, clever, and in such good taste. As I was driving home it got me thinking about entertaining and how to have fun and surprise my guests whenever they come to visit.... how to make even a simple supper out of the box and special in some way. There are really so many ways to change things up starting with the table setting. Not the same white tablecloth (my standard) but a really fun table...and what about the food? How about making something new and different...What are some of your clever entertaining ideas? Here are a few ideas to get you started.

A pretty simple table with individual flowers

A clever way to add the menu to your table.

Yummy individual Ceaser salads.

A gorgeous set-up for cheese and fruit.

Love this wooden planter with herbs as the centerpiece!

How about flavoured water? So easy and very elegant.

Set up an olive bar for guests to have with their cocktails....or a special cocktail bar even better..

Pretty mix of topiaries and flowers on the table...

Enjoy!

Harmonious Home

The art of Feng Shui was used to create perfect balance and harmony in this home. Of course I find white homes are always peaceful and calm but this space has the added touch of an experts hand. Elements such as the easel were added to symbolize creativity and black was used to contrast with the white to show ying and yang in the home. From a decorating perspective I love the gold mirror in the dining room and the wallpaper with the contrasting black cupboard looks so pretty!

Inspiration in White: Chevron Floors

I love the look of chevron or herringbone floors. First they are usually found in older homes...and often in places I like to visit....like Paris for example! The texture and warmth it gives to a space is fantastic and it looks really good in both white wash and deeper tones as well. I found so many great houses with these amazing floors! Here are a few homes I blogged about that have them HERE and HERE!

Enjoy!

Scandinavian Style

If you love Scandinavian design then you must know about Emmas Design Blogg. I have been following Emma Fexeus for awhile now and she has the most amazing and paired down style I have ever seen. Thanks to the wonderful Est Magazine we get a sneak peek at Emmas new book called Northern Delights and if these pictures are any indication, the book looks to be very inspiring.

Love the very rustic feeling of the bedroom and the oversize black lamps in the dining room. Her advice is to get rid of the clutter to let your pieces show to their best advantage. Not so easy to decide what goes and what stays but it looks great when it is done!!

Enjoy!

White Cottage

The photos of this fabulous home are from the company Stettvoll. I have written about them before because their cataloque on-line is perfection. The furniture from this company is featured in these photos (no they are not paying me to say this!) and is the style I have in my home and what I just love. Clean, white, slipcovered and elegant, the styling of each photo is so well done...sorry I am gushing....but wow!

Go and take a look at the furniture they have and check the last post I did on them. It was one of your favourites last year!

Enjoy!

White Home by the Sea

This lovely little home in Hamptons is for sale...just $17.5 million...with 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, it is ocean front property..of course. I have gone to the Hamptons and few times and I love it. (I showed another home in the Hamptons HERE) The beach is so amazing but it would have been even better if we had stayed in an all white beauty like this... Enjoy and dream...

White Decor with Ikea

This sweet apartment is filled with furniture and accessories from Ikea but what I love about it the styling! I have seen these dining room chairs at Ikea and I think they would work with so many different styles from modern to vintage. The bed tucked against the window is perfect in a small room and with the curtains in front makes a cozy little space. The inspiration board in the office is done on a wood shelf or board which is a great idea. You could do this on an rough wood board and it would look amazing!

Bohemian Eclectic

I have shown this living room picture before in the Floral post here, but I wanted to show you the whole apartment as I find it so inspiring. There are so many elements that I would love to add to my home...like the rug, the rustic ceiling light, the steel stag head and the leather lounger.

The hallway looks great with the metal table and the two mirrored drawers on either side of the door. The bedroom has a cleaner feel but with a bit of sparkle. It is fun and eclectic with a bit of a bohemian touch throughout.....Thanks to Lonny Magazine for sharing another great home!

Enjoy!

From Schoolhouse to Hip Hotel

The owners of this former schoolhouse, turned luxury boutique hotel, have given it a wonderful hip vibe yet maintained the beautiful details of its former life. This hotel, located in Park City, Utah,  exudes warmth and style and what a great place it would be to stay in winter (skiing) or summer (with that gorgeous pool!).
I love the architecture of the building with the high ceilings and the beams all painted white. The use of antique furniture against the modern fixtures in the bathroom is such a great mix and just the way I would like to see a historic building reworked. Thanks to Rue Magazine for sharing this!

Enjoy!
