Designer Home

I really like Rue Magazine and the latest issue has got some great homes and ideas.

This months feature is on designer Caitlin Flemming. The home that she decorated below is actually the home of her mother and their collaboration was obviously a labour of love..and great taste. So simple... but the pieces! The gorgeous mirror in the living room, the armoire in the dining room and of course the amazing antique bed (I am afraid I would have to paint that bed white. I featured a really similar bed on Facebook in white and it is to die for!).

Enjoy!

White with Brights

This small cottage is short on space but big in style. The all white house is really punched up with bright colours in yellow and blue with hits of brown and grey. You can feel the light flowing through this space and the mix of bright patterned fabrics really works well to pull the rooms together. I love the wallpaper in the kitchen and the bentwood bench in the dining room. Such great ideas and of course there is always the soapstone sinks for gardening projects...how I would love a little space like this! Really a lovely fresh home don't you think?

Enjoy!

Interiors: Cool Beauty

This incredible house in Iceland is so cool with the icy white against the grey. I think if I was ever to get rid of my white walls, this is the colour I would do....as you know I love grey and I find the white pops so well against this colour. There are so many ornate touches with the carved mirrors, the crest on the fireplace and the gold on the bed. The mix is so well done, barn, French, Scandinavian..but it all works. The kitchen is simply sublime with the small settee, large mirror and the two side tables..LOVE it!

Enjoy!

Vintage Industrial Mix

This former country store was transformed into a very interesting home for this lovely Swedish family since 2008. They loved the fact that it was large, unusual and quirky and I have to agree! So quirky and certainly charming as well. I would say it is still a work in progress but is full of so much potential. They have a wonderful mix of industrial and vintage styles with a lot of Swedish style thrown in which we all know I love!

Enjoy!

All in the Details

I love this house in Copenhagen and what I like about it is that it is full of surprises. It seems that in every corner there is an object or color that is used in new ways that are amusing and fun! Even if this house is not your style there are some great ideas for decorating that we can take from Josephine's approach to creating a personal and warm space!!

1. Painted Floors - Not only have the floors been painted white bit with the added detail of diamond checks in two colors!

2. Adding Textures and Color - There are so many great textures and prints going on in this photo from the fur to the knitted chair cover to the vintage texture on the lamps and tables.

3. Imagination - The addition of the sign post between the living room and dining room adds fun and wimsy to the space. I love that the sign post is a paddle!

4. Vintage Details - There are a lot of vintage items throughout the loft that add charm to the space.

5. Materials - Using different materials such as the wood and metal brings more warmth into the space.

6. Color - Pops of different colors throughout the space make this feel young and modern.

7. Don't forget your pet - Each area is thought through to make it fun and clever even Rover's bowl!

8. Lighting - There is a lot of lighting in the home that is different yet carries a theme throughout the space. I am loving the pail lamps against the wall!

9. Forgotten Spaces - Even the stairwell provides an opportunity to add creativity and imagination.

#10 - What would you add as the 10th feature you like about the space! Leave me a comment below and let me know!!

Enjoy!!

Photographer Ditte Isager

I often go to the photographer Ditte Isager's website when I need inspiration. From food to fashion to home decor, each photo tells an amazing story. Her photography is clean and simple very much in the nordic style of her homeland. She does work for so many great brands from Vogue Living, Martha Stewart to Bon Appetit.

Take a look at the few shots I have here but be sure to visit her website.

Pouffe Party

I know Pouffes (or Poufs, I have seen it both ways) have been in style for some time now but I am amazed at how many new and interesting patterns and styles I am seeing these days. There is definitely a color or texture to work with any room!! It is such a great way to add comfy extra seating to a big space or an easy place for the kids to sit and watch TV or just another place to put your feet up! Take a look at a few that I found....

Neutral room with a pop of colour and leather pouffe. Style at Home.

A nice knitted style pouffe used as a table in front of a bench and chairs!

Super cute knitted pouffe added to the end of the bed. Love the coordinating blanket on the bed!

Moroccan style leather pouffe for added seating.

Pouffe in Paola Navone's home from Metropolitan Home.

Cute knitted pouffe available on Etsy . Also comes in a ton of great colors. I like the rattan pouffe in front as well.

Burlap pouffe on Etsy

So what are your thoughts, yes to Pouffes or Poufs??
