Pins of the Week

I am so busy this weekend I completely forgot to do my Pins of the Week! Oh and there were many good ones too..so I decided to go ahead anyway and show you what I found on Pinterest this week. In the fashion area I found more pictures of Daria Werborwy and Taylor Tomasi Hill. Daria being my favourite model and Taylor my favourite fashionista turned florist. (check out her Instagram TTH Blooms for amazing flower arranging ideas).

In the area of home decor I always seem to gravitate to black and white and this week I am loving the black ceiling in this kitchen and the copper touches in the other home. On the food front, well who can resist a good pizza recipe! This one looks good with goat cheese and Meyer lemons.

London Calling

Pretty house in London with pale cream walls against dark rich floors making a wonderful statement. This house from Light Locations has got beautiful paneling throughout that really gives it great texture.

What is so good with this home is the variety of whites and greys. I love mixing whites in my home so there is a tone on tone feeling. This is the best thing to do when you have a mostly all white home and what makes it look so interesting. The outdoor and indoor lighting will also add shadows and change the way the light looks at different times of day.....my walls can go from white to pale yellow depending on the day light. So beautiful....

Inspiration in White: Moulding

I was with a client today and we were talking about adding some architectural interest through moulding around the ceiling and on the walls, This is such a quick and easy way to give your room height, definition, presence and interest. In the case of these pictures, the moulding is obviously from another era where plaster was used to create these intricate and spectacular designs. I really love the look of these rooms mixing Victorian era on the walls with modern furnishings in the rooms. They really seem to fit perfectly together!!

Blue and White Obsession

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

I have a few pieces of blue and white porcelain in my home and I really love it. I think it goes with every decor and fits into a neutral colour scheme perfectly. This is the home and personal collection of Furlow Gatewood, who is a been an influential member of the design community for many years. These photos that House Beautiful featured are from the book One Man's Folly (by Julia Reed and published by Rizzoli) and feature much of his amazing collection of blue and white porcelain. Now this is a collection! I love the blue and white stool in the first photo and the stunning ginger jars in all shapes and sizes. Plates, candleholder and vases fill out the rest of the collection, all set in the most beautiful home.

Living Lightly

I have an abundance of stuff in my home and I can not seem to change this...I try...really I do..but I just love to collect things and style things and it just accumulates. I wish I could change as I really love the look of the homes I post with great architecture and clean, simple lines in the home. Like this one I am showing you below...so beautiful and each piece that is shown in the home is really perfect in its place and you really see it..you look at each piece.

This is the home of photographer Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen who is also a designer and architect and clearly super talented! A wonderful eye and a lot of restraint in design with a perfect eye for detail.

Vogue Living

I have already talked about the magazine Vogue Living but this March issue is the best yet! A wonderful mix of really incredible homes from around the world photographed by the most amazing photographers. (This spread is from photographer Michael Wee). I subscribe to Vogue through Zinio which I love..just get it in my in box and off I go. I do still like to read the paper version of many magazines though...something about the touch and feel of the paper that makes me happy (same for books!).

I love the home below as it has the elements I look for....modern with a mix of rustic vintage giving it a warm, cozy lived in feeling but with so much elegance. Beautiful!

Barefoot in the Barn

This gorgeous barn is that of... the one and only Barefoot Contessa, Ina Garten. Don't you love her recipes! She makes everything look so easy....It has an amazing kitchen, a wonderful dining space and cozy bedrooms. This is a really great place to entertain, where guests can linger in front of the fire or out on the amazing covered terrace and if they are lucky, perhaps stay the night in this guest space and short walk from the main house. Wonderful neutral tones throughout the barn give it an earthy feel and what about those fantastic ceilings...

Domino Magazine Archives

I was going through the Domino Magazine archives on line today and found some of my favourite photos that influenced my decision to change my decor from pale pastel and white to all white. I used to buy every Domino magazine and pour through each page. I am so happy they decided to bring it back into print! I remember seeing the photo below of Tom Delevan's home and fell in love! It was a small picture and I went back to it many times. So simple but beautiful. I find all of the rooms have really stood the test of time and continue to look great today....filled with well chosen pieces, all it takes is small changes to update them.

Home by the Sea

I really love this home by the sea from Remodelista (fabulous website you should follow!). There is so much I like here it is hard to know where to start but I think it really is about the mix of fabrics, vintage and otherwise, that does it for me. I use a lot of vintage fabrics in my own home and I cannot get enough. They bring so much warmth to a table or a room I think I would layer my rooms with even more if I could. The beautiful combination of reds and blues throughout the home, the textures of all the furnishings and accessories from wood to metal to leather. So well done and so natural in the space..
