Inspiration in White: Moulding

I was with a client today and we were talking about adding some architectural interest through moulding around the ceiling and on the walls, This is such a quick and easy way to give your room height, definition, presence and interest. In the case of these pictures, the moulding is obviously from another era where plaster was used to create these intricate and spectacular designs. I really love the look of these rooms mixing Victorian era on the walls with modern furnishings in the rooms. They really seem to fit perfectly together!!

Danish Cottage

This wonderful Danish home of jewellery designer Charlotte Lynnggard has been finished with the most luxurious and beautiful materials but what is most interesting is the story behind it. Every time Charlotte passed the cottage on the way to visit her mother-law, she and her husband would peer longingly at the home they refered to as the "Tea Rose House". Formally belonging to a Swedish actress, they finally bought their dream home and moved in on their wedding night. Renovating the home with a minimalist, light touch they have now lived there for 18 years. Beautiful home, romantic story....

Danish Delight

Beautiful summer house in the Danish countryside totally redone in gorgeous white decor. So many cute details like the Smeg fridge, the collection of jars and bowls on the kitchen shelves and the pretty purple accents throughout the house. The balcony is sooo sweet with the lamps and comfy relaxing spot with lots of cushions. I mean other than the little bit of an accent this is really a white on white home from floor to ceiling....but with the different textures and varying whites it feels really fresh I think.

Take a look at homes with Danish design HERE and HERE....

Enjoy!

Interiors: Great Design

I was doing my usual read of one of my favourite blogs, Decor 8, and I happened to see a photo that led me to the website of Piet-Jan van den Kommer who is a wonderful designer of furniture and interiors in the Netherlands. I simply adore the work I see in his photos. Very simple designs made with wonderful materials like concrete, steel, stone and leather, that together create such beauty...wow really...look at how the materials are mixed in this design.. and I especially love the bathroom vanity. So much space and the counter is just beautiful...well done!

Here are a couple of other designers that are wonderful to follow..ONE and TWO..

Enjoy!
