Black is everywhere in home decor these days and of course fashion as always. I am really loving the black I am seeing in home decor and ceramics. I am so into black kitchens, bathrooms and just about everything else including pottery. Not sure how someone that loves white so much could suddenly be so intrigued by all the dark decor out there but I am! I also love black when it is paired with white and when it is paired with gold. A touch of luxury to be sure.
For those of you in the US I hope you are all having a lovely holiday weekend and did not spend too much in the stores today!!

A very chic, modern home from Est Magazine that is completely done in black, white and grey. I love the use of the black tile on the wall in the kitchen and in the bathroom...and the back stove as well..so nice.
Well it is the start of a new week! Hope you all had a great long weekend and for those of you in Canada that celebrated Thanksgiving, I hope you had a lovely day with family and friends.

If I was building a home today especially a condo or loft I would try to incorporate a glass wall. These are really brilliant don't you think? They let the light come through but block some of the noise and more importantly they add an element of design that is very chic. I think it would be great for a kitchen...you can see the action but your guests don't have to hear the noise you are making in the kitchen..the fan...the dishwasher etc...I especially love the black metal or the rough steel. Gorgeous!

I posted about moody rooms the other day and as I was going through Pinterest I saw so many black kitchens....and you know what..I love them. I always design white kitchens and in my own home I can't wait to make my kitchen all white...but that being said there is really something to combining the look. The black cupboards with the white backsplash is super sophisticated and what about the natural wood cabinets with the small tile in black. that is not a combination I thought I would like but it really works here.
What do you think? White and black or white and wood....

This week on Pinterest there were so many amazing moody rooms. Black and white with a vintage mood that I really can't get enough of....this kitchen and the beautiful dining room (this is beginning to look like my post on branches!)..checkered floors and tall bookcases. Sooo good...

I have already talked about the magazine Vogue Living but this March issue is the best yet! A wonderful mix of really incredible homes from around the world photographed by the most amazing photographers. (This spread is from photographer Michael Wee). I subscribe to Vogue through Zinio which I love..just get it in my in box and off I go. I do still like to read the paper version of many magazines though...something about the touch and feel of the paper that makes me happy (same for books!).
I love the home below as it has the elements I look for....modern with a mix of rustic vintage giving it a warm, cozy lived in feeling but with so much elegance. Beautiful!

I have posted about how much I love the look of black and white before and I have even talked about how great brown or wood looks with black and white......but toffee...well that is a really beautiful colour. The warmth of this tone...it really is very special...It can be wood, leather, copper, fur, artwork....really the list is endless. Here are some great inspirations.
Hope your pre-Christmas celebrations are going well! We have had parties and guests over so much this past week I feel a bit behind in my own Christmas prep and in my posting too! It is so fun though to have friends and family near us and I feel so grateful for all that I have. How are all of your pre holiday activities going?
