Pins of the Week: Christmas

My first Christmas post of the year with a few ideas for decorating the mantle and the tree. No I have not put up my tree yet and actually I have not done much thinking about it beyond these few pictures. I realized I had better get at it when I passed through Target the other day to pick up a couple of things and saw that the Christmas lights that I liked were out of stock! Now I am on the move to get ideas and I love what I see here. Isn't that a lovely simple table for Christmas. So Scandinavian in feeling...actually all the photos have a rather similar simple yet cozy feeling to them....check out my Christmas pins here on Pinterest.

How to Style a Coffee Table

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

I change up my coffee table and console table styling very often. It is such a fun thing to do and makes the room feel fresh and new. Here are a few ideas to help you with your own styling:

1. Use a pot of flowers layered into the styling. I like to keep flowers either very high or very low. The height of the flowers depends on the height of the other elements in your styling.

2. Use a tray to hold your styling together. I like to layer with a tray on part of the table and then layer outside it as well if you have space.

3. Layer with books. I like to have a stack of decorating or art books on the tray beside the flowers and then layer another piece on the top book.

4. Use a small dish as the top layering piece. I take one my lookslikewhite dishes and fill it with shells, marble eggs, small stones or any other natural element.

5. There are so many other elements to use in table styling like plants, statues, artprints, antlers, candles and so much more. Use items that have meaning to you and that make you happy to feature them where you can see them everyday!

Chic All-in-One Bathroom

You know the dream we all have of taking a rather large room in your house and turning it into the ultimate bathroom? Well this is what I imagine it could look like....subway tiles on all the walls, amazing black and white tiles on the floor. Love the shower space that looks like a rather large closet and of course there is the reading, library, shelving space in the corner. Certainly not traditional in any way, this is a wonderful makeover that has everything you could need. My only question would be.... why only one sink?

White on White

Oh this is one of those super houses I come across that I just love. Anyone that can do white on white this well is a star for me. Line Kay, who is a stylist and photographer as well as the owner of this home, has such good taste. (you must check out her Instagram ....swoon!) A bit of natural wood and accessories in wood tones break up the white but keep the right mood at the same time. The white wood floors are such a favourite!

Are you brave enough to do white on white like this?

5 Ways to Add Style to Your Bathroom

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

Bathrooms can look fabulous with a little extra styling. Even a beautiful renovated bathroom can use some extras to make it really special. Sometimes it takes a bold move to make it look really different and other times just adding that little touch is enough to give it that personal touch. Here are 5 ways to add style to your bathroom:

1.Add a cool carpet that you would not expect to see in a bathroom. The traditional bathroom carpet is fine but this makes it really fun.

 2. Big white towels. This one is always guaranteed winner. Big fluffy white towels always make a bathroom feel clean and fresh. Fold them on shelves, in baskets or roll them and put them on the edge of the tub.

3. Add shelves....but don't fill them up with tooth brushes and shaving cream! Use them to show artwork, beautiful perfume bottles or something else decorative.

 4. Add flowers or branches. I do this one all the time in my tiny powder room. I put the flowers in a small vase on top of a small shelf and it brightens up the whole space.

5. Add baskets under the sink or on shelves in the bathroom. I add rolled washcloths to my baskets for guests to use as individual hand towels. Looks great and guests love it!

Inspiration in White: Green!!

I am loving some of the green touches I am seeing these days. Green is a hard colour and can go wrong rather easily...a bit like red...but when it is the right shade of green it is fantastic. Check out these gorgeous greens used in just about every room in the house and some not in the house at all....

Black and White Modern

A very chic, modern home from Est Magazine that is completely done in black, white and grey. I love the use of the black tile on the wall in the kitchen and in the bathroom...and the back stove as well..so nice.

Well it is the start of a new week! Hope you all had a great long weekend and for those of you in Canada that celebrated Thanksgiving, I hope you had a lovely day with family and friends.
