Inspiration in White: Canopy Beds

I think I must like canopy beds a lot because as I was going through my Pinterest I realized that I have many photos of this style of bed....but really what is not to like about a canopy bed. Beautiful big beds with flowing fabric, often in white, creating a gorgeous romantic setting. I know they say that a canopy bed should only be used in a very large room but I am not so sure about that. Of course it looks amazing in a big room but I think it can look equally fantastic in a smaller space if done right. I love how it can be made to look traditional and more formal or very loose and relaxed with a simple sheet floating lightly over the bed....and when it is done in white it is the best!

Lonny Magazine Re-launch

It has been since December that Lonny Magazine stopped publishing their on-line magazine and I thought that was the last we were going to see of it. I was receiving their emails and went often to the site but new editions of the magazine never came out.....but to my delight this month they re-launched an updated magazine and website. I saw mixed feedback about the site but I have to say I like it. I found it is easy to navigate and the content is interesting and the homes gorgeous. Of course for me Michelle Adams, the former editor now at Domino, brought so much style to the pages of Lonny, but I am happy that the magazine is back and that it is still inspiring me with new ideas in decorating and design.

Check out this wonderful home of designer Susan Greenleaf in this months issue. Welcome back Lonny!

London Calling

Pretty house in London with pale cream walls against dark rich floors making a wonderful statement. This house from Light Locations has got beautiful paneling throughout that really gives it great texture.

What is so good with this home is the variety of whites and greys. I love mixing whites in my home so there is a tone on tone feeling. This is the best thing to do when you have a mostly all white home and what makes it look so interesting. The outdoor and indoor lighting will also add shadows and change the way the light looks at different times of day.....my walls can go from white to pale yellow depending on the day light. So beautiful....

Simply White and Bright

So love this home from Domino Magazine with white on white walls, floor and ceiling...so gorgeous! What makes it so great is the the punches of colour throughout this amazing white space. The kitchen is perfect with the big island on wheels and marble backsplash....What about the coffee table in the living room? Really like the way it has been styled with the sheepskin.

I am off to Chicago for a few days this week. If you have any suggestions for great restaurants or places to visit please let me know!

Designer Home: Kali Cavanagh

This wonderful restored cottage is the home of designer Kali Cavanagh. A mix of new and old, designer and vintage it has so many fun elements throughout. I love the bathroom just off the master bedroom with the big iron tub in the room just outside the bathroom where barn doors make a fun entrance. Super lights hanging from the ceiling in the all white bedroom with vintage linens and wood slat ceilings. The kitchen has the most amazing stove in a wonderful pale blue and a wall of subway tiles (a look I keep seeing in photos all over the internet). Dark walls in the living room mixed with leather create a super cool lounge vibe and just outside the antique doors is a terrace with a place for two to enjoy a little breakfast. Love this home!

Have a great weekend!

Simply White

This house appeals to me so much as it has all the elements of what makes Swedish style so beautiful. Clean simple lines, pretty accessories, natural wood mixed with white and wonderful creativity. Of course any house with a Mora clock instantly has a place in my heart! Lovely kitchen with concrete island and sliding barn doors for the pantry. What about that great cover for the bed! It looks to me like oil cloth bags sewn together..but let me know if you have an idea of how it is made. To top it off the large windows let in a wonderful light and provide a beautiful view.

Enjoy!

Lifestyle Photographer: Carolina Romare

Just loving these wonderful interiors shots from Carolina Romare. She is a lifestyle, interiors, food photographer from Malmo, Sweden. Her shots are light filled and with delicate styling and attention to detail.

She says “I like the raw simplicity in things I see. Often I find myself thinking about how all objects and environments have a story to tell. Like a deserted house somewhere in the countryside or a 17th century armchair for example, I bet it’s got lots of secrets from various dinner parties and owners. It’s the history and stories that makes things truly beautiful.”

You can see her work in many wonderful Swedish magazines such as Skonhem and Lantliv.

Inspiring Vogue Interiors

I follow Vogue Living on Facebook and they always post the most incredible homes. This first photo is brilliant. I have a headboard this exact shape and when I am tired of the neutral linen I have it covered in today I could totally slip-cover it. I had never thought about that (despite the fact that almost every other piece of furniture has a slip-cover)...I also love the trio of glass lamps over the table and the rustic dining room as well. What about the view from that gorgeous bathroom with the center tub and wall to ceiling tile...oh so beautiful!!

Enjoy!

I showed some of Henry Bourne's photographs earlier this week and I just can not get enough. I love the way he captures these amazing interiors..... So gorgeous this first photo with the black and white! What about these couches!!! I think there are a few different homes here but the styling, the angles and the light are all incredibly well done in all of the rooms. It is worth a visit to his website to see the wonderful work he is doing.

Enjoy!

Dreamy Decor in the South of France

How could I not love this house? First of all it is situated in the town of Uzège in Saint-Quentin-la-Pottery. This just happens to be in the South of France and I love the south and I hope to spend most of my later years in any small village there. Secondly, this town is known for its many potters (thus the name) and I, if you are not aware, am a potter! ( I need to visit this village on my next trip!)

Of course there are other reasons to love this house mostly to do with the fantastic decor. The renovation of the home began with the new owners, a young couple with one small child at the time, hiring local workers to do the finishing. Unhappy with the quality of work they decided to dive in and do it themselves, becoming experts in plastering, decor and design. I think they did a great job and really like the use of stone throughout the home. I also find the lettering above the counter in the kitchen very sweet and gives it character and coziness. What do you like best in this home?

Enjoy!
