Interiors: Swiss Mix

This home in Zurich was built originally in 1925 and was renovated recently to create this amazingly elegant and sophisticated space.  Steve Gambrel, a well known American designer that had done three other homes for the same couple, did a beautiful job. I love how the space still manages to feel cozy and warm despite being so grand at the same time. The dining room is really outstanding. I like the shiny beams on the ceiling and the tiled and mirrored wall on one end of the room. The long bench is such a great idea in this room and allows for a lot of guests to sit at the table ....simply gorgeous!

Inspiration in White: Swiss Cross + X

The Swiss Cross symbol is really showing up all over Pinterest and on many blogs thanks to the Pia Wallen blanket. Done in black and white it fits so well into a modern Nordic decor. I have also seen versions of this with a big X as well giving a sort of stark, cool design element in a room. Both the cross and X are being used on pillows, wall art, wallpaper and of course in blankets and throws. Doesn't black and white always looks so good in decorating...always sophisticated...

Enjoy!
