Beautiful Mirrors Over Furniture

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

I hang or lean mirrors all over my house and I have at least one mirror in every room.  I find it adds light, reflection and a bit of shine. I really love hanging mirrors over consoles or buffets or any kind of furniture really. I never hang my mirrors too high as I want them to be part of the grouping below as you can see in the first photo....which is in my dining room. I also love it when the mirror is really large compared to the furniture it is hanging above. Super tall or as wide as the furniture it makes a statement every time and is always a focal point in the room.

Petit Apartment in France

I found this super cute apartment in France at The Style Files and I just love it! So small but really well done...all white to keep the space open and fresh. What I think is so brilliant is the the use of repetition in this space. The use of the round baskets on the wall make it feel so much larger and then the feeling is repeated with the mirrors on the wall. The large mesh lamp is shown in the living room and then just steps away it is featured again in the dining room as well. The vases on the table, although different sizes and shapes, are numerous and create a great impact. You would think that all of these repeating elements in such a small space would seem cluttered but actually it looks amazing!

Inspiration in White: Collections

I love to see what types of things people collect. I personally have a collection of tea towels (every kind from linen to cotton, white to colourful) different collections of ceramics (this includes a collection of Quimper from France and of course my own pottery) and various other smaller collections throughout my house (mercury glass and Bartlett prints to name just two more). There are just so many things you can collect...really the list is endless! Buttons, trophies, benches of all sizes, plates, ceramics, string, ironstone, chandeliers (one of my personal favourites)...I can just keep going..

What is really fun is deciding how to feature your collections and there are so many ways to show them off. Of course to get the full impact of the collection it should be shown together...the key is to be creative and think outside the box a little. What I like about some of the photos below is that it is not important what the collection is, such as the watering cans, but the way it is put together that makes it so spectacular! What do you collect?

Enjoy!

Victorian Beauty

This wonderful Victorian home is owned and decorated by Annie Brahler who is the owner of the design firm Euro Trash. This home is located in Jacksonville, Illinois but looks more like it belongs in Italy with the palette of gold and white with hits of mocha and grey. There is nothing subtle about this home and that is just what I love about it! Over the top but in the best way with many big mirrors, big chandeliers and drama, drama, drama in every room. Pieces from France, Belgium and Holland fill this home as this is where Annie sources most of the antiques and vintage salvage for her business.

I have shown so many of these photos on Facebook over the past year but had never realized they were all from the same house. I am so happy to be able to show them to you all together thanks to House Beautiful...

Interiors: Cool Beauty

This incredible house in Iceland is so cool with the icy white against the grey. I think if I was ever to get rid of my white walls, this is the colour I would do....as you know I love grey and I find the white pops so well against this colour. There are so many ornate touches with the carved mirrors, the crest on the fireplace and the gold on the bed. The mix is so well done, barn, French, Scandinavian..but it all works. The kitchen is simply sublime with the small settee, large mirror and the two side tables..LOVE it!

Enjoy!

Inspiration in White - Holiday Doors and Windows

I love these windows and doors (and a couple of blackboards ) with a beautiful touch of green in a wreath or a bunch of pine boughs. It is so easy and fun to add a touch of the holidays with a wreath hung indoors or outside. Add a bow, some pine cones and a few berries and voila! So many creative folks out there!

Inspiration in White - Mirrors

There are two items in home decor that I go weak in the knees for and one is chandeliers and the other is mirrors. I have many of both in my home and am always on the lookout for more to add to my collection. Here are just a few that I would love...and yes there is a theme going on here...
